FEES

All fees are charged in South African Rands (ZAR). To obtain the current exchange rates and to convert the ZAR amounts into your own currency, please click on the currency convertor button below the fees.

After registration, delegates will receive an invoice issued by the conference secretary. Payments can be made by means of direct deposit into the conference bank account or by credit card via the PayFast platform (Visa or MasterCard). Please note that no account information or link to PayFast are supplied on the website. The conference secretary will set up a link which will be sent to you directly from PayFast.

You are welcome to bring an accompanying person with you. If you plan to bring children with you, please contact the conference secretary for a quotation.

The above fees are payable in full on or before 20 February 2023 (for early bird) or 31 March 2023 (final date).

REGISTRATION FEES

Registration fees include admittance to all scientific sessions and conference material, lunches on the conference days, refreshments during the conference sessions, conference functions and activities, conference gifts and one morning game drive. For workshop delegates meals will be included from dinner on 15 April to lunch on 17 April. For conference delegates meals will be included from dinner on 17 April to breakfast on 22 April.

Student fees: Applicable to bona fide (i.e. full time) students as well as post-doctoral delegates. Depending on the sponsorship received, a limited number of bursaries to partially cover costs for young scientists may be available. In order to qualify, the submission of an abstract and a letter of support from the supervisors are required. A contribution by the student towards registration fees will be required, as well as the fees for the Namibian Work Visa. No funds will be paid to bursary holders but will be used to cover their costs towards workshop fees, accommodation (shared), meals and airport transfers. Please click the relevant box on the registration form if you would like to apply for a bursary. The supporting letter can also be uploaded on the registration form. This should be done before 15 February 2023.

Workshop fees: Attendance for the workshop is an optional extra and a separate registration fee will be charged for all attendants.

ACCOMMODATION

Accommodation is offered in the following types of rooms. Accommodation rates include dinner, bed and breakfast. Please indicate your preference on the registration form.

Standard rooms: suitable for single occupancy or sharing with one person (two beds) Family rooms: suitable for two adults and two children <12 (one bed plus 2 bunk beds) Junior suites: suitable for single occupancy or sharing with a partner (one bed)

Please note that the maximum number of people per room is 2, except for the family rooms. Sharing accommodation will only be allowed if you indicated who you would like to share with.

  • The following activities are free of charge at the venue: swimming pool, beach volley ball, table tennis, tennis court, outdoor chess, gym, sauna, hiking.
  • Activities at additional cost: horse riding, bowling, game drives, spa treatments, restaurant meals outside conference times.

TRAVEL AND AIRPORT TRANSFERS

Airport transfers from and back to Hosea Kutako International Airport will be organised by the conference and can be booked and paid for in advance. You can select the option on the registration form. Please refer to the Airport Transfers section on the “General Information” page for more information.

CANCELLATION POLICY

Registration cancellations must be notified in writing by email to the conference secretary, Thereza Botha (Email: thereza@technoscene.co.za).

  • Cancellation before or on 28 February 2023: 50% refund
  • Cancellation after 28 February 2023: no refund and unpaid invoice will be payable.
